English version
For this tenth edition of WomenSpeak! Noreena Hertz, leading expert on economic (ethical) globalisation and a former distinguished fellow at Cambridge and Rotterdam, will hold lecture on the economic crisis.

After her lecture Noreena will be interviewed by Rosi Braidotti, Distinguished Professor at the Centre for Humanities (University of Utrecht) about the relation between the current crisis and gender issues. How will the crisis effect the position of women?

Maybe the alterglobalist movement was right all the time. They preached a more sustainable and ‘human’ form of capitalism years ago. With Noreena Hertz as one of their front ladies. Tonight we will discuss the real winners and losers of this crisis. According to Hertz this current economic crisis effects us all. The idea of separating weak countries from the world economy will not work this time. The solutions to overcome this crisis need to be as transgressing as the crisis itself. Therefore the so-called Gucci Capitalism should be replaced by the New Co-op Capitalism. Keywords for the New Co-op Capitalism: cooperation, transparency and durability.
